Trama:
È il 1933 e le conseguenze della Grande Depressione si fanno ancora sentire. London è uno dei tanti lavoratori che ha speso tutto quel che aveva per raggiungere un campo di mele, insieme alla figlia e alla nuora incinta. Al suo arrivo, però, il padrone della terra dimezza il salario concordato, da due dollari ad un dollaro al giorno, una cifra che rende la vita impossibile. Mac e il nuovo arrivato Jim sono attivisti del partito (marxista-leninista), pronti ad infiltrarsi tra i raccoglitori per convincerli a scioperare e a rifiutare l'assenza di diritti e i soprusi che stanno subendo. Mac, in particolare, sembra disposto a tutto per la causa in cui crede, anche a dare una spinta agli eventi, se necessario.
